We sure do love our Herefords! The Hereford breed has been so good to us and they offer some needed traits in today's cattle industry. In our registered, purebred herd, we take a different approach than most registered seedstock operations. We strive to produce low-input, easy fleshing, trouble-free cattle that can make a living in our hot summer, cold winter, fescue-infested environment. To achieve our goal, our ideal cow is maternal, moderate in her frame size and milking ability, structurally correct, and has longevity. Tools and genetic technologies we utilize are artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and breed-related data and calculators.
In addition to our registered cattle, we maintain commercial cows as well. Most of these cows are heavily angus-influenced cows which we breed with our Hereford bulls to produce that great F1 baldy calf. We market the heifers as commercial replacements, and the steers go into our freezer beef market.
Here at Smith Family Farm, we have all of your beef and pork needs! From ground product, such as our delicious ground beef and pork sausage, to your grilling must haves, like chops and bratwurst, and all your family dinner and date night favorites, such as roasts and steaks! All of our meat is from the animals we raise on our farm, with no added hormones or sub-therapeutic antibiotics. Our products are all processed at USDA-FSIS inspected facilities.
